Toric domains are symplectic submanifolds of standard symplectic Euclidean space that exhibit significant symmetries, making them a useful setting for studying symplectic embedding problems. In this talk, we explore how the Arnold-Liouville Theorem (action-angle coordinates) can be used to find hidden toric domains. We will specifically focus on the four-dimensional case, presenting applications for calculating the Gromov width of disk cotangent bundles of spheres of revolution (joint work with V. Ramos and A. Vicente). Additionally, we introduce a notion of four-dimensional toric domains within the cotangent bundle of the two-dimensional sphere, T*S^2, and present four distinct toric pictures for these examples. In particular, we discuss the cases arising from the Katok Finsler metric, the rotating Kepler problem, and ellipsoids of revolution. The latter is ongoing work inspired by discussions with U. Frauenfelder. |
