| I will discuss three problems on active matter, covering modelling, macroscopic limits, and analysis of the resulting PDE. These involve stochastic systems of self-propelled interacting particles described by their positions and orientations, typically with non-equilibrium steady states. At the population level, this implies that their hydrodynamic PDE limits lack a gradient-flow formulation and admit a much broader range of behaviours than their diffusive counterparts. I will showcase some of these attributes on two problems consisting of active Brownian particles to model foraging ants, and one problem involving a mixture of active and passive lattice gases. |
